Ibraheem at-Taymee used to say: َ اَلّٰلهُمَّ اَعْصِمْنِي بِدِيْنِكَ وَبِسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ ، مِن الِْاخْتِلافِ فِي الْحَق ، وَمِنَ اتِباعِ الْهَوىٰ ، وَمِن سُبُلِ الضَّلالَة ، وَمِن شُبُهاتِ الْأمُور ، وَمِنَ الزِّيغِ وَالْخُصُومات (Allaahumma aa’simnee bi deenika wa bisunnati nabiyyika min-al-ikhtilaafi fil-Haqq, wa min-at-tibaa’il-hawaa, wa min subulidh-dhalaalah, wa min shubuhaatil-umoor, wa minaz-zeeghi wal khusoomaat) “O Allaah protect me with Your Religion, and with the Sunnah of Your Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam).... 1. from differing from the TRUTH, and 2. from the following of DESIRES, and 3. from the paths of MISGUIDANCE, and 4. from affairs producing DOUBTS, and 5. from deviation and 6. argumentation Such a comprehensive and beautiful duaa to protect your Deen Subhaan Allaah! The duaa lists all those things that will cause a person to go astray and away from what the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught. Differing (meaning going against the established, authentic way of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam), following desires, entertaining doubts, deviation from the ways of the Sahaabah, and unnecessary argumentation and questioning.... Just shows how destructive these things are for a person’s Imaan. May Allaah protect us. So come on! Let’s all make this duaa a regular part of our lives.
