BID’AH ALERT

Updated: Apr 18, 2020

‼️ THE ISSUE‼️ “They are claiming that some ‘pious’ person saw the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam in a dream and advised him to read Surah al-Faatihah 3 times, Surah al-ikhlaas 3 times and ‘Hasbunallaahu wa ni’mal Wakeel’ 313 times to protect yourself from the Coronavirus” ✅ REALITY ✅ La Hawla wa la Quwwata illa billaah. This is clearly NOT CORRECT! It is nothing but a fabrication! Astaghfirullaah How can I say that for sure? Well...THINK about it. When the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam passed away, wasn’t the Sharee’ah COMPLETED? Didn’t Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala say? “This day, I have PERFECTED your religion for you, COMPLETED My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion.” (Surah al-Maa’idah:3) After Allaah has completed the Deen, can there be any addition or deletion to the Deen? No. NOTHING can be ADDED OR DELETED from the Sharee’ah EVER. And this “dream” is claiming to ADD something NEW to the Deen Astaghfirullaah. The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam NEVER read Surah ikhlaas three times and Hasbunallaahu wa ni’mal wakeel 313 times like this in times of troubles, although he faced MANY VERY TOUGH situations in his lifetime. And now he’s coming in someone’s dream and adding to the Sharee’ah?! Astaghfirullaah 🍃 Imaam al-Maqreezi said: “The Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam does not enjoin anything after his death except that which is in accordance with what Allaah had prescribed on his lips during his lifetime, and that in His Holy Book Allaah forbade adding anything to His laws, as He says: “Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not ordained?” [al-Shoora 42:21]. And the Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said: “Beware of newly-invented matters.” [al-Khatat al-Makhreeziyyah (2/172)] 🍃 The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said: “Verily, the WORST of LIES are for a man to claim... that he saw a dream he did not see, or to say the Messenger of Allaah said what he did not.” (al-Bukhaari) 🔺 WHY IS IT WRONG❓ Isn’t it good to read the Qur’aan or make duaa? 🍃 Explanation 1⃣. The reason why it’s wrong is because this act of ibaadah is NOT proven from the Qur’aan or authentic practice or teachings of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam. You see, there’s a very BASIC principle in Islaam. And that principle states that “ALL acts of Ibaadah are ‘tawqeefi’” That means that in order for ANY ibaadah to be valid and accepted by Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, it has to have EVIDENCE for its validity from the Sharee’ah. If the evidence is there, we should do it. If the evidence is not there, we shouldn’t do it. Otherwise anyone can come up with ANY ridiculous deed and claim that it’s part of deen. Think about it. How can we do acts of ibaadah that are not proven from the teachings of the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam?! Do we know about Allaah and His Deen MORE than the PROPHET sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam?! Can we worship Allaah in a way that’s BETTER than what the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught us?! Or somehow we have “discovered” a new way to practice Islaam ? Astaghfirullaah! Isn’t that ADDING to the Deen? Remember, the ONLY way of ibaadah that is acceptable to Allaah is how He taught His Beloved Messenger Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam. NOTHING ELSE IS ACCEPTABLE. NOTHING ELSE IS GOOD ENOUGH. 🍃 The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said: "Whoever performs an ACTION not in accordance with our affair, then it is REJECTED." ( Muslim) 2⃣. Reading Qur’aan is good but it’s HOW we read it, WHEN we read it and WHAT we read it for, that’s important. So we can read Qur’aan generally and make duaa. And that’s good. But to PICK specific Aayaat of the Qur’aan or certain Surahs and read them a specific number of times, can ONLY be done IF the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam did that or taught us that or approved of that. Otherwise it’s WRONG. And it counts as bid’ah. And bid’ah is a HUGE SIN. 🍃 The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said regarding people who do bid’ah: “I will be ahead of you in reaching my fountain, and there will be people who will be PREVENTED from reaching it, therefore, I will say: 'Yaa Rabbi! These are my followers!' It will be said: 'You do not know what they INNOVATED and ALTERED after you (i.e., after your death)! Therefore, I will say: “AWAY FROM ME! AWAY FROM ME!” (al-Bukhaari and Muslim) Astaghfirullaah! imagine the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam PUSHING AWAY and DISOWNING those who INVENT acts of worship that are NOT PROVEN from the authentic practice or teachings of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam and are involved in bid’ah! What a WRETCHED, WRETCHED situation! May Allaah protect us. 🍃Abu Shaamah al-Maqdisi said: “It is not appropriate to single out times for acts of worship that were not singled out for such acts in Islamic teachings. People have no authority decide such matters; rather that is the prerogative of the Lawgiver.” [al-Baa‘ith ‘ala Inkaar al-Bida‘ wa’l-Hawaadith (165)] 🍃And Al-Shaatibi said: “Bid’ah refers to something that is newly invented in matters of religion that appears similar to that which is prescribed, by which people intend to go to extremes in worshipping Allaah, may He be glorified. That includes adhering to certain forms of worship, such as reciting dhikr in a group, in unison, or taking the day of the Prophet’s birth as a festival, and so on. That also includes adhering to certain acts of worship at certain times, for which there is no evidence in sharee’ah,.” [al-I’tisaam (1/37-39)] 3⃣ Yes it’s true that people may see the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam in their dreams. But remember ONE VERY IMPORTANT thing. The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam will NEVER tell you something that’s NOT from the Sharee’ah. He will NEVER add or delete anything to it. He can NOT do that. Allaah has COMPLETED the Deen. NOTHING can be added or subtracted from it. He will not tell someone a NEW way to worship Allaah. Or tell someone something that others don’t know. That’s against the VERY ESSENCE of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam’s message and purpose. What he taught us is for the WHOLE WORLD to see. CLEARLY. There’s nothing HIDDEN in Islaam that’s ‘exclusive’ to some and not known to others. 🔺GOLDEN RULE: Always remember that ALL GOODNESS lies in following the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam and his teachings. And all EVIL lies in opposing his ways and inventing NEW things in the Deen. 🍃Abdullaah Ibn 'Umar said, "EVERY innovation is MISGUIDANCE, EVEN if the people see it as something GOOD." 🍃Imam Ash-Shafi'i said: "Whosoever considers an innovation to be good has CORRECTED the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam." (Bulugh al-Maram) 🍃And Ibrahim al-Masayrah said, "He who honors an innovator has ASSISTED in the DEMOLITION of ISLAAM." (Sharh Usul I'tiqad) May Allaah guide us and enable is to SEE and TRULY UNDERSTAND the teachings of the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam and follow it to the best of our ability Ameen. And Allaah knows best
