ANSWER
No it’s not allowed to do that.
Doing Umrah or reading Qur’aan or giving sadaqah or duaa or reading Nawaafil, etc are acts of ibaadah and so we can only perform those acts of ibaadah that have PROOF from the Qur’aan and/or authentic Sunnah.
When we look at the proofs for offering umrah or reading Qur’aan or sadaqah or sacrifice or duaa etc for the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam, we see absolutely NO PROOF of that.
The Sahaabah LOVED the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam BEYOND our imagination.
They gave up EVERYTHING they had for him, even their own children, their homes, their very lives.
But despite that undeniable love and devotion, there’s NO EVIDENCE that they ever did umrah or hajj or ANY OTHER act of ibaadah, on behalf of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam.
If it was good to do that, they would have definitely done that.
But they didn't.
Therefore ANY such ibaadah that’s NOT PROVEN from the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam himself or his Sahaabah is counted as ADDING to this perfect Deen and comes under bid’ah.
And bid’ah is a huge sin.
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said:
"Whoever from you lives after me will see much differences; then upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifas after me: bite on it (i.e. my Sunnah) with your molars (meaning cling to it and don't let it go)
And beware and stay away from innovated matters, for EVERY innovation is MISGUIDANCE."
(Abu Dawud, Saheeh by Albaani)
Any act we do which is not in accordance with the teachings or practice of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam will NOT be accepted from us. Rather it will be THROWN on our face on the Day of Judgment.
🍃 The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
"Whoever performs an action NOT in accordance with our affair, then it is REJECTED."
( Muslim)
Besides, the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam has NO NEED of this umrah or any other good deeds from us.
Allaah has ALREADY FORGIVEN his past and future sins, and therefore, he does NOT require ANY good actions from any of us that would benefit him.
Whatever good we do, the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam automatically gets the reward of that too ANYWAY.
🍃 That's because he Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said:
“Whoever sets a good example in Islaam which is followed after he is gone, will have a reward like those who acted upon it, without it detracting from their reward in the slightest.” (Muslim)
So he Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam gets the reward of EVERY SINGLE GOOD DEED we do, because he’s the one who taught us that.
🍃 Shaykh ‘Abd al-Muhsin al-‘Abbaad said:
“Anyone who wants to do something to increase the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam, then he should strive to do righteous deeds for HIMSELF, for Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala will give His Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam a reward like that which He will give him, for the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam is the one who showed people the way to do good, and “Whoever guides to goodness will have a reward like that of the one who does it.”
(Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood)
