by Asma bint Shameem đżANSWERđż GENERALLY SPEAKING, it is BETTER and more REWARDING for women to pray in their homes. đ PROOF: đ When one of the Sahaabiyaat called Umm Humayd, radhi Allaahu anhaa came to the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam, she said: âO Messenger of Allaah, I love to pray with you. He said: "I know that you love to pray with me, but praying in your house is better for you than praying in your courtyard, and praying in your courtyard is better for you than praying in the masjid of your people, and praying in the masjid of your people is better for you than praying in my masjid." So she ordered that a Musalla (prayer area) be built for her in the furthest and darkest part of her house, and she always prayed there until she met Allaah (that is, until she passed away).â (Ahmad - saheeh al-Albaani) However, IF thereâs BENEFIT in going to the masjid to pray, such as she has more khushooâ in the masjid, or listening to the Imaam softens her heart, or there are some lectures there that she can gain knowledge from, then itâs BETTER for women to pray at the masjid in Jamaâah. Thatâs why although the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam encouraged women to pray at home, he allowed women to gather and pray together during Ramadhaan. đ Someone asked Shaikh al-Albaani: âIs it best for a woman to perform the night prayer in Ramadhaan (taraaweeh) in her house or at the masjid?â Shaikh al-Albaani said: âParticularly for the night prayer in Ramadhaan, the BEST thing is what the righteous believing women of the Righteous Predecessors used to do, which is performing it with the congregation of Muslims in the MASJID, as opposed to the rest of the months in which case âTheir houses are better for themâ as the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said.â So go ahead and pray at the masjid, if you want. The only thing to pay attention to when going to the masjid is to be dressed appropriately -with the hair and rest of body completely covered, - the clothes should not be tight or revealing the shape of the body -the hijaab should not be see through, - there should be no makeup or perfume - there should be no mixing of the genders at the masjid etc And Allaah knows best
