by Asma bint Shameem The Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said, “Verily, in Jannah are houses whose outside can be seen from inside and whose inside can be seen from outside.” A bedouin stood up and said, “Who are they for, O Messenger of Allaah?” The Prophet said, “They are for those who speak kind words, feed the poor, fast regularly, and pray to Allah at night while people are sleeping.” (At-Tirmidhi-- hasan by al-Albaani) This month of Ramadhaan is our chance to acquire these beautiful houses in Jannah! Don't we already fast in this month? And pray when people are asleep? Yes Alhamdulillaah we do. So we're already doing two out of four. We need to pay attention to the other two characteristics: feeding the poor and speaking kindly. So be generous and spend on the poor. And when the Shaytaan comes to you, and tells you, "you've spent enough", then spend some more. 🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam was the most generous of people and he was at his most generous during Ramadhaan.” (al-Bukhaari, 6; Muslim, 2308) Having good manners is one of the best things one can do and is the heaviest on the scale on the Day of Judgment. What better month is there for training our tongues and perfecting our manners than this month of Taqwa and ibaadah? 🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said: “If one if you is fasting, let him not utter obscenities on that day or raise his voice, and if anyone reviles him or wants to pick a fight with him, let him say ‘I am a person who is fasting.’” (al-Bukhaari, Muslim) So speak kindly and softly to people. Be nice, polite, patient, pleasant with them. And if someone irritates you...take a deep breath. Think of the awesome houses waiting for you in Jannah. And then SMILE. Perhaps Allaah will count us among those who will qualify for these houses in Jannah. Let us not let this opportunity slip away.
