Seek forgiveness after Salaat ad-Duhaa

by Asma bint Shameem

One of the Sunnahs that has been pushed back is the Sunnah of seeking forgiveness after reading Salaat ad-Duhaa.

🍃 Our Mother Aa’ishah radhi Allaahu anhaa said:

“The Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam prayed Duhaa, then he said:

‎اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

“Allaahumma’ghfir li wa tubb ‘alayya, innaka anta at-Tawwaab ar-Raheem

(O Allaah, forgive me and accept my repentance; verily You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful)”,

and he repeated it one hundred times.”

(al-Bukhaari in al-Adab al-Mufrad (619) and an-Nasaa’i in as-Sunan al-Kubra (9935); saheeh by al-Albaani)

Such a simple duaa.

Yet so beautiful 🤍

Imagine!

If the Prophet ﷺ is saying this duaa and seeking forgiveness one hundred times every day, then what about me and you?!

So let’s revive this Sunnah.

Alhamdulillaah a lot of us pray Salaat  ad-Duhaa, including Salaat al-Ishraaq which is a kind of Salaat ad-Duhaa, prayed 15-20 minutes after sunrise.

Right after we’re done with Salaat ad-Duhaa, let’s make istighfaar one 100 times and follow in the noble footsteps of our Beloved Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam.

It’s simple.

It’s easy.

And it doesn’t take more than a few minutes.

And it earns you forgiveness from your Rabb and a lot of rewards.

The important thing to remember is to say the duaa sincerely with your heart, thinking of your sins and feeling ashamed of them...hoping in the Mercy and Forgiveness of the One Who Forgives all.

🔺 Note:

This istighfaar can also be said any other time of the day, not just after salaat ad-Duhaa.

And Allaah knows best
