SIGNS of an ACCEPTED Hajj

by Asma bint Shameem

We all HOPE for an accepted Hajj, that's for sure.

But how do I know that my Hajj was Mabroor?

Are there any SIGNS out there that might show me if Allaah accepted my Hajj?

šŸƒ Al-Hasan Al-Basri said:

ā€œHajj Mabroor is to return abstinent from this world and desiring the Hereafter."

šŸƒ And Shaikh ibn Uthaymeen said:

"It is possible for there to be signs for the one whose Hajj, fasting, charity or prayer has been accepted by Allaah and they are:

  1. The opening of the heart (to good),

  1. Happiness of the heart and

  1. A lighted face.

Certainly, for worshipping (Allaah) there are signs that appear on the body, signs that are VISIBLE and signs that are HIDDEN.

Some of the Pious Predecessors have mentioned that from the signs that a good (act) has been accepted (by Allaah) is that he will be granted the tawfeeq to do (yet) another good (act).

Certainly the TAWFEEQ of Allaah for him to do MORE GOOD (acts) after it, is EVIDENCE that Allaah ('Azza wa Jall) has ACCEPTED his previous good (acts).

He has made it EASY for him to do ANOTHER good act and is HAPPY WITH HIM for it."

(Daleel al-Akhtaa.a yaqa'a feehaa al-Haaj wal-Mu'tamir wat-tahdtheer minhaa - Page 115)

šŸƒ Ibn al-Qayyim said:

ā€œIf the heart illuminates, then the delegations of goodness will flock in his direction from every direction. Similarly, when a heart darkens, then the storms of evil will gust towards him from every directionā€¦ā€

(Al-Jawāb al-Kaafi)

šŸƒ And Al-Hafidh Ibn Rajab said:

ā€˜If Allaah accepts the deeds of a worshipper, then Allaah gives him the capability to perform good deeds after that initial good deed.ā€™

[Lataif al-Maā€™arif 221]

In other words, if we IMPROVE ourselves after coming back from hajj, and develop a BETTER relationship with our Rabb, then thatā€™s a sign that Allaah has accepted our ibaadah and our hard work didnā€™t go in vain.

šŸ”ŗ SO WHAT TO DO ?

1. Once you come back from Hajj, keep up with the good deeds and strive HARD in becoming EVEN BETTER.

2. Keep asking Allaah for STEADFASTNESS.

3. Persist in THANKING Allaah for His innumerable blessings.

4. Continue ISTIGHFAAR even if you think you haven't done anything wrong; because if you think you havenā€™t ā€˜doneā€™ anything ā€˜ wrongā€™, that ITSELF needs istighfaar.

5. And if you commit a sin, IMMEDIATELY make Taubah and turn back to Him.

Remember that ā€œthe most beloved of deeds to Allaah are those which are continuous, even if they are little.ā€

(Saheeh Muslim)

šŸƒ Ali Radhi Allaahu anhu used to say:

ā€œBe more concerned with Allaahā€™s acceptance of a good deed than with the doing of the good deed itself.

Have you not heard Allaah saying: ā€œAllaah only accepts from the people of taqwa? (Al-Maā€™idah: 27)ā€ (Ibn AbÄ« al-Dunya, Al-Ikhlaas)

May Allaah accept our Hajj and keep us steadfast afterwards until the day we die. Ameen.

And Allaah knows best.
