First of all, there’s no such word as “wazeefah” in the Qur’aan or authentic Sunnah.
In the Arabic language, the word “wazeefah” means a “job”.
And nothing more.
Yet, reading “wazeefah” for problems is a very common misconception amongst us.
A lot of people think there are ‘special’ duaas or ‘specific’ Aayaat or certain Names of Allaah to be read repeatedly to solve each specific problem that they may face in their lives.
So they look for specific ‘wazeefaas’ for each issue;
kind of like a different ‘pill’ for each different disease.
For example they ask:
What wazeefah should I read because I want to get married?
Or
What should I read to make my husband ‘more loving’ to me?
Or
What Aayaat should I read because my mother in law is ‘mean’?
Or
What duaa should I read if have diabetes?
A wazeefah for this and a wazeefah for that.
But that’s NOT how it works.
Generally speaking, there are NO specific duaas for each and every problem in our life.
Or ‘specific words’ to say for each and every different challenge we may face.
And there’s NO PROOF of repeating Allaah’s Names a certain number of times to solve your problem.
Remember, there are NO ‘MAGIC SPELLS’ in our Deen.
Rather, reading wazeefahs is a “Sufi” concept which has no basis in Islaam.
🍃 Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd said:
“From the bid’ah (innovations) is to specify (an action of worship) without any proof, (like) reciting an Aayah, or a Surah at a (specific) time, place or for a need.
Likewise, is (the ruling) with making an intent to specify without evidence.
For instance:
* Reciting al-Faatihah with the intention of eliminating needs and relieving distresses.
* Reciting Surah al-Kahf to the worshippers on (Jum’ah) Friday, loudly before the Khutbah.
* Reciting Surah Yaseen forty times with the intent to eliminate needs.”
[Bida’ al-Qira’ah, Pg. 14-15]
🍃Ash-Shaatibi said while explaining about bid’ah:
“...this includes the additional innovations by addition, which means committing oneself to doing an act of worship in a specific manner and in specific times that were not prescribed in the Sharee’ah.”
So it’s not like you need some “special” wording or “formula” in order for Allaah to respond to your need.
And if you didn’t use those words then Allaah will not respond?!
How can that be possible?
Allaah is not unfair or mean. Astaghfirullaah.
Yes, there will be TESTS and TRIALS in our lives.
Allaah has said so clearly in the Qur’aan that He will definitely TEST us in various different ways.
And we will face challenges, some tougher than others.
But then He has also shown us ways and means to get through those challenges and tests.
Some of those are:
1️⃣ Duaa:
The Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has explained to us the concept of duaa, the GENERAL guidelines regarding duaa and the times most likely for duaa to be answered.
So when we are tested, we should make use of these “general” guidelines to make duaa to Allaah for ALL our problems and situations, instead of looking for these ‘magic spells’ and wazeefaas to ”instantaneously” ‘solve’ these issues.
ALL you have to do is simply
SPREAD OUT YOUR HANDS and ASK in your OWN WORDS.
NO specific wordings.
No formulas.
NO wazeefahs.
Make duaa in Salaah during your sujood and in tashahhud before salaam.
And at other times.
Say it in your own language if you don’t know Arabic.
Make duaa especially in those times that duaa is more likely to be accepted such as in the last part of the night, in between the adhaan and iqaamah, at the time of breaking your fast, when it rains etc and Allaah will respond.
Learn to TALK to Allaah.
He’s listening.
Open up your heart and POUR OUT your worries to Him, like you would to a friend;
TELL Him your problems although He already knows it.
But He likes to hear it from you.
He LOVES when His slave is dependent on Him...
BEGS Him...
seeks HELP from Him.
So TRUST Him with all your affairs.
And ASK.
He WILL respond.
2️⃣Take a good look at yourself.
Another thing we need to do when we are faced with problems and challenges is to take a GOOD LOOK at our own lives.
Are WE doing something that is bringing on this problem?
Are WE disobeying Allaah in any way?
🍃 That’s because Allaah says:
“And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.”
(Surah ash-Shooraa:30)
So if there’s anything you can mend, DO so.
If there’s something you’re doing that you shouldn’t be doing, STOP it.
If there’s any shortcomings in your life, FIX it.
3️⃣ Istighfaar
Do plenty of Istighfaar when faced with problems.
🍃 Allaah quotes Nuh Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam and says:
"'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;
'He will send rain to you in abundance;
'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers."
(Surah Nuh:10-12)
So make a LOT of Istighfaar.
And ask Allaah’s forgiveness.
Make SINCERE Taubah.
He will bless you in your provisions, and children and health.
He will provide relief for you and deliver you out of all your problems.
4️⃣ Turn to Allaah in
Obeying Allaah is a means of solving all our problems.
🍃 He says:
“And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things.” (Surah at-Talaaq: 2-3)
The MORE you OBEY Allaah, the MORE BLESSED your life will be.
Allaah will make a way out of every difficulty for you.
He will SUFFICE you.
BOTTOM LINE
If you’re having problems in your life, or challenges you’re facing, instead of looking for specific duaas and ‘wazeefahs’ to ‘magically’ fix those problems...
TURN to Allaah.
OBEY Him.
Make a lot of Istighfaar.
And make Duaa in your own words.
That’s ALL you have to do.
Then leave the rest to your Master and Creator.
He will take care of it all.
And Allaah knows best.
